What is natural language processing?

Natural language processing turns unstructured text into structured data: classifying enquiries by type, extracting names, dates and amounts from documents, scoring sentiment across reviews, summarising long material and enabling search by meaning rather than keyword.

The value is in the routing, not the analysis

Sentiment dashboards are widely built and rarely acted on. The deployments that pay for themselves are wired to a decision — an angry review routed to a manager within the hour, a complaint auto-classified to the right department, a contract clause flagged before signature.

If nobody would do anything differently because of the output, the analysis is decoration.

Indian languages and mixed script

Modern multilingual models handle Hindi, Marathi and other Indian languages considerably better than a few years ago, including romanised and code-switched writing. Quality still varies by task and domain vocabulary, so it is worth measuring on your own text rather than trusting published benchmarks.
